Matching sculpt movements to BPM
A simple guide to choosing half time, single time or double time for each movement, based on the song's tempo.
Most sculpt playlists sit between 110 and 135 BPM. The trick is not finding slower songs for slower moves – it’s choosing how many beats each rep takes.
Three speeds from one song
| Count | Reps per minute at 128 BPM | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Half time (2 beats up, 2 down) | 32 | Squats, presses, lunges with load |
| Single time (1 up, 1 down) | 64 | Bodyweight moves, raises, curls |
| Double time | 128 | Pulses, small-range finishers |
A quick rule
- Bigger range or heavier load → slower count. If people are losing form, halve it.
- Small range → faster count. Pulses feel natural at double time.
- Change the count, not the song. Moving from single to half time halfway through a song is a great way to build intensity without a break.
Let the app count for you
In Cue Coach, tap Half, Single or Double and the orb pulses at that speed while it listens to the music. You can watch the room instead of counting.
